Flora and Fauna

Last June I noticed this backlit Showy Lady's Slipper in Hammond, Indiana with the silhouette of a strange and beautiful bug. Is it a Katydid nymph? I have no idea.

I would guess that it's some king of katydid, but I'm not sure. Nice photos, though.

Yep, that's a katydid nymph - family Tettigoniidae (longhorned grasshoppers) if you're interested in that sort of thing (I am!).
